LAURICH PROPERTIES BRINGS RETAIL CENTERS TO NEW COMMUNITIES

(Las Vegas, NV) - Do you live in one of those new communities where you have to travel miles and miles to find shopping? Laurich Properties, Inc. is trying to change that by bringing two new shopping centers to residents of neighborhoods that currently lack convenient services. The shopping center developer has just opened Northshore Plaza, in the northwest part of Las Vegas and is building another shopping center, Ashley Park Plaza, in southwest Las Vegas.

Residents from new communities near W. Cheyenne Avenue can now shop in their own neighborhood at the new 150,000 square-foot Northshore Plaza located at the northeast corner of Cheyenne and Durango Drive. This new center opened last month with anchor tenants Lucky Supermarket, Sav-On Drugs, Sears Hardware and Blockbuster Video. Several smaller pads and stores at Northshore Plaza will open over the course of the year.

"One of the joys in my work is bringing neighborhood centers to areas of town where there is a real need," says Hank Gordon, President of Laurich Properties. "People's eyes lit up when Northshore Plaza first opened, since they finally had a place near their homes to buy groceries, fill prescriptions, run quick errands, rent videos and shop in a hardware store without standing in a long line."

The folks living near the end of W. Flamingo Road won't have wait long for a supermarket and drug store to call their own. Laurich Properties will soon break ground on its 86,000 square-foot Ashley Park Plaza at the northwest corner of Flamingo and Durango Drive. This neighborhood center will feature anchor retailers Lucky Supermarket and Sav-On Drugs, and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 1998.

"It may seem like new retail centers like Northshore Plaza and Ashley Park Plaza are just popping up all over the valley, but it really involves a good year or two of planning, permitting and construction," adds Gordon. "We don't start moving earth the same time as the homebuilders, but once there are enough rooftops in an area it usually isn't long before residents can start enjoying the services of their own neighborhood shopping center."

Laurich Properties, Inc. is the largest Las Vegas-based shopping center development company serving Southern Nevada, with more than 3 million square feet under development. Company president Hank Gordon has developed successful shopping centers for the last 40 years in eight western states, including Southern Nevada's Stephanie Street Center at Stephanie and Warm Springs, Best on the Boulevard at Maryland and Katie and BEST in the WEST Power Center at Rainbow and Lake Mead.
